Joe Alfred Putman (Feb 2, 1915-Mar 23, 1987)
Joe Alfred Putman was the son of Albert and Lela Putman. He married Jessie Jane Harris on Jul 4, 1941. He is buried in the Oakmont Cemetary, Lafayette, CA. They had two daughters.
Carol Jean Putman Sheila Ann May (Putman). We always seemed to have a camera and took pictures whenever we visited in Arkansas. But, J.M. sent us photos of himself regularly. And I know Albert liked to take photos. It looks like he took a lot of Lela with my Dad and lots of his kids. All my Dad's brothers would send him photos of themselves, too, and photos of their kids. The Margaret Bogle photos were a surprise to me. I remember her visiting a couple of times and that she was my Dad's cousin. I had never seen them before and really didn't know who they were until I looked at your website. The stamp on the envelope she sent them in is cancelled and dated Sept 23, 1982. - Carol Putman 12/06/2003

When my father was deployed during the Korean War, we were all supposed to go to Japan where he would be stationed. He was to go ahead and find a place for us to live and then we would join him. The Army even gave him a book for us to learn Japanese, so we started studying. He went ahead, and during that time he had this photo made. But, shortly after he arrived, they told him he would be sent to Korea so we never joined him. - Carol Putman
