Wayne Hileman talked about it (Sept. 24, 2008), "They were getting ready to get rid of the pulpit and said to me, 'If you want it, come and get it.'" Wayne took it home with him and kept it for a couple of months, then called the Methodist State museum to take it. They said they had to offer it to the local church first. "I got hold of the Bishop and he said, 'If we're going to do it, let's do it right. Needs to stay with Methodist movement.' A committee was formed and I met with the committee and the pulpit was given to Pea Ridge Methodist church with understanding that the church would keep it. We had to do something pretty fast, to keep it from being destroyed," Wayne said. The Pea Ridge Methodist church restored it to the original. The purpose (use) of the pulpit is to hold register, as people come in, will sign it. A plaque was made saying the pulpit was donated to Pea Ridge United Methodist Church in honor of the entire Hileman family.
